Energy Processing Centers

The chakras are simply energy processing centers for the body. Whereas our physical organs process our physical matter (nutrients, blood for example) our chakras process our emotional matter ( security, love etc). The body has hundreds of chakras -- funnel like vortexes. Commonly North Americans acknowledge 7-15 of them. A 12 point system is presented here.

To be healthy in the physical body, it is important to keep each chakra clean, open and in balance with those around it. There are numerous approaches to chakra wellness. Some include meditation, color, vibration, toning, chanting.

"Get Your Rear In Gear"

For the most part, the metaphysical world has ignored the rear of the chakra system –or marked it with the same color dots as the frontal  system & assumed that by treating the front, the back is also treated. Consequently, most healers balance and treat the chakras from the front side only. What a pity! The rear side of the chakra system is a power house that we let lie dormant. 

In a nut shell, the front of a chakra deals with the  conscious (& present) whereas the rear deals with the unconscious (&past).

For example, we know the first chakra (front) to be the seat of our survival energy “I Am”. Looking at a dysfunction here might show suicidal tendancies - the present. Looking at the rear of this chakra shows the past -- belief sytsem, family patterns that are the are the basis for the current (faulty) expression of the base chakra.

How much easier and effective to discover and deal with the root of the problem in the rear chakra as opposed to the perceived undesired behavior in the front of the chakra.

The front of the chakra responds to energy in a tangible “must follow the laws of physics”’ way, whereas the rear of the chakra processes energy in a fashion unlimited by our conscious mind.  For example,  if you want to get an apple, front side energy would process this by having you go to the store to buy one or climbing a tree to get one.  Rear side energy would  have the same end result of you having an apple but you may get it because one falls off a tree in front of you, a neighbor drops by with a basket of apples, you find a forgotten one in the fridge or one just shows up in any number of ways. 

People who live with the back side of their chakras opened are the ones that  “get all the breaks’’,  draw abundance on all levels etc.

So, as you can see, the back and rear sides of the chakras are not identical but complementary.  The symptom that manifests in the front side of the chakra is merely an extension of the belief that is held in the rear side of the chakra. Both sides of a chakra must be dealt with for health and balance.

BASE CHAKRA: (1)

Earth, physical identity, “I am”

Front
The Base Chakra is located at the base of the spine.  Its energy is that of survival energy.  Its associated color is red and suitable stones include ruby, red jasper, or blood stone. Symbols often used to describe it include serpent, dragon, holy fire.
Basic survival needs are housed here - our right to exist, our right to occupy space, our right to have our needs met etc.
Dysfunction here results in issues such as, compulsions & addictions, issues of having our basic needs met in areas of finances, food, sex, housing etc.

Back
The rear of the Base Chakra is associated with the colors red, white & black. So apart from stones suggested for the front of this chakra, good ones would include snowflake obsidian, apache tear, onyx, and jet. Symbols here include any for life /death, such as a cross, sythe etc. and symbols of abundance, such as harvest, kundalini fire, etc. Here we hold everything concerning our beliefs and rights to exist & exist abundantly in the physical world. With the rear Base Chakra functioning fully, we realize we are created in the image of the Divine. We embrace self worth and abundance in all areas & recognize our own holiness.
Dysfunction in the rear of the Base Chakra results in the belief(s) "I don't deserve a full life" and or "I don't deserve an abundant life".

Summary
In summary, a deficit in the front of this chakra exhibits such traits as money worries, poor relationship patterns, or suicidal patterns. These are merely an extension of the belief "I don't deserve a full or abundant life".

SACRAL CHAKRA: (2)

Water, emotional identity, “I feel”

Front
The Sacral Chakra is located approximately 1” below the navel and approximately 1” in toward the diaphragm.  It is our sexual energy as well as our energy of relating to others (self esteem).  Its associated color is orange and suitable stones include carnelian, orange jasper, or tiger eye. Symbols include those of life & death such a cross, a scythe etc
This chakra houses our awareness of our feelings & our right to express them (or not). Here we have choices about which feelings are "ok to express" and which ones we reject or go numb to. With this chakra functioning properly, we are confident in our sensuality , trust our selves and our feelings & the right to express them.
Dysfunction here shows as low self esteem, lack of confidence, misdirection of feeling energy (turning rage inward instead of pushing it out results in depression - a blockage in this chakra)

Back
Symbols include: rebirth, cycles, renewal such as a moon, water, pregnancy. The back side of this chakra houses the body's "feeling template". Here feelings are transformed into form the body can express - beliefs,colors, sound.
Dysfunction here shows as sexual and reproductive concerns, hopelessness, helplessness.

SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA: (3)

Fire, self definition, “I do”

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in the central lung cavity, just below the breast bone.  It’s the energy of what we’re called to “do” in this life, our mark in life.  It is often confused with success at one’s career but this chakra will only balance when one fulfills one’s life’s calling – writing a book, starting that business, the thing that makes the heart sing.  The associated color is yellow and associated stones include citrine, yellow jasper, serpentine, yellow jade, or peridot.

HEART CHAKRA: (4)

Air, social identity, “I love”

The Heart Chakra is located in the central chest 2”-3” above the solar plexus.  It is the energy of how we relate to others – intimately & platonically, one on one and globally.  Its associated color is green and associated stones include jade, green kunzite, aventurine, or emerald.

THYMUS CHAKRA: (-)

Energy, joins physical, mental, spiritual & emotional, “I intend”

The THYMUS CHAKRA is located just above the heart chakra.  It is sometimes mistaken for a part of the heart chakra & referred to as the “upper heart”.  It is often missed altogether.  It is of major significance as it “bridges” the chakras below it and above it.  It is a “conduit” for the lower chakras bringing base energies of “I exist”, “I am”, “I feel”, “I do” and “I love” through to INTENTION.  The upper chakras can then manifest the energies in our life as “I express”, “I see”, and “I know”.  Its associated color is turquoise and some associated stones include turquoise, or dark aquamarine.

THROAT CHAKRA: (5)

Sound, self expression including creativity, “I express”

The THROAT CHAKRA is located in the throat and is the energy of self expression – oral, written, musical, art in any form.  Its associated color is light blue and associated stones include blue lace agate, iolite, or angelite.

Light, reflection, “I see”

The Brow Chakra, also known as the “third eye” is located in the center forehead just above the eyebrows. It is the energy of seeing both physically and intuitively.  Its associated color is indigo and associated stones include sapphire, amethyst, or lapis.

Thought, connection to Spirit, “I know”

The Crown Chakra is located at the very top of the head – at the skull plating intersection.  It is our God/Spirit connection. Its associated colors are violet & white with some associated stones being sugalite, moon stone, or clear quartz.

Center earth, grounding, “I exist”

The Root Chakra is located between the feet at ground level.  It is connects us to the core of the earth – “grounds” us.  It is often combined with the base chakra but has a few distinct differences. It is located one to four feet undergroud below our feet. Its associated color is black and suitable stones include black stones such as hematite, jet, onyx, leopard jasper, or apache tear.
Dysfunction here show as weight problems, difficulty centering, foot, ankle, leg problems
